Status: 0.82 RELEASED

FreeTDS 0.82 can now be found in better stores everywhere, not to mention
http://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/ALPHA/freetds/stable/freetds-stable.tgz.  

Documentation on the website -- User Guide and Reference Manual (and
tds.html, the "preliminary" protocol document) -- has been updated

This release has been a mere 22 months in the making.  As readers of this
list know, it's a major update, affecting 25% of the code, bringing the
codebase up to 100,000 lines.  

The feature set has been discussed in these parts many times.  Please see
the announcement, attached, the NEWS file, and ChangeLog-0.82 for details.
 

It is perhaps worth reiterating the rationale behind the jump in version
numbers.  We are asymptotically approaching 1.0; 0.82 is halfway between
0.64 and 1.0.  

Use it in good health.
