Problems configuring php5 with freetds-0.82

I've successfully compiled freetds.  But when I go to configure php to use the freetds libraries, I get this error: configure: error: Directory /usr/local/freetds-0.82 is not a FreeTDS installation directory How can I fix this?  Configure worked with my old version of freetds-0.62. Thanks!
