Details:

With a fresh working copy, I tried running configure directly and got a lot
of confusing errors and learned a lot about automake, etc :-)

Finally I stumbled on CVSMake which ran for a while, but now configure fails
with "config.status: error: cannot find input file Makefile.in"

Can anyone suggest a fix?

Ubuntu 10.04 adm64 with automake 1-11.1
