One suggestion is to get the patched source and compile from that.

You'll probably need to install lesstif2-dev. Another possibility is
to get whoever packaged version 3.3.11 for Kubunto to package
3.3.12-test5 mentioned above which is almost a year old (so 3.3.11 has
got to be much older.)

A third possibility - scan archive of this mailing list for the patch.

As for the hexidecimal enhancement, probably the most sure way to see
that it is included is to write a patch. ;-)
