ddd display format

How does one make it so that the display window does not change the
format of the data being displayed when the "next" button is clicked?

Please see the attached screen shots for clarification.  The file
"before.bmp" shows the display before the "next" button is clicked,
the file "after.bmp" shows the display after the "next" button is
clicked.
