Hi Michael, > Our priority is to replace > this with more current technology, likely GTK. > Only one remark to gtk: I had developed a large application with gtk3. Now the gnome team decided to remove all and everything from the web for this release. Furthermore, it is impossible for me to move to gtk4, because some of the components of gtk3 are not longer supported ( goocanvas ). There is no maintainer for this part of the toolkit. Even if the source of all of ttk3/gtk3mm is available, it is impossible ( for me ) to get it compiled on my PC. The build systems simply did not work out of the box and is a bit mysterious. Especially goocanvas is totally outdated and unmaintained which starts with the problem, that autotools did not work any longer. In fact: No chance to stay with gtk3! In fact, all my work is lost! In addition gnome has currently a high number of very big bugs! 1) With fedora 40 upgrade gnome did not support touchscreen for X11 anymore ( Bug/Feature? ) 2) with latest update last week I lost second screen support and touch for wayland was also dropped! What I want to tell: It looks for ME, that gnome/gtk isn't a stable development platform. We see feature removal development and also a lot of quality issues. Touch did not work for around 4 month now and it looks that nobody is working on the problem. The bug entry is open but no further comments added there. My experience with all of that: You/we may look for something more stable and reliable? No idea what it can be, I am also searching for something... But moving to gtk will kill ddd some years in the future. There will be gtk5 and gtk4 will gone also. And this means someone has to port again... why? Regards Klaus
