New ROX developer

I am frustrated by the lack of a good HAL applet, so I would like to
design one in a language I use plenty of: C++. Where can I find
information on how I am supposed to design a ROX applet? C API
documentation would be helpful, and the like. I wish to design one so my
ROX filer can interface with HAL and my removable media. I intend to share
my results if it is any good. Also, I am the maintainer of ROX packages
for the Frugalware distro. Anyway, any ideas?
