I took my cue from some of the OpenGL settings, where their point of view 
is that the underlying mechanism is less important than the options 
meeting the users goals.  Thus Fastest and Best directly correlate to a 
users desires.

I tend to be against sliders for things like this,  Sliders give the 
impression that the quality is a continuum but The different functions 
are a set of discrete points.  I'd use a slider for jpeg quality as that 
is a scale factor on the quantization, but not for different quality 
modes.
