When you click to add ROX-Session to your login you should then get prompted for a root password. Do you usually use a root password to administer your system or your own password (with sudo). ROX-Lib uses xterm to ask for the password. Do you have xterm installed? You could try just setting up ROX-Session for the current user instead and choosing the default/client script/xsession session in the desktop manager. Ubuntu doesn't have a root password, you have to use your own password with sudo.
