Improving rox's options box

Currently, there are two options with title bar flags for All, Thumbs,
and Scanning - the full word, or one letter. I would really appreciate
a way to turn these off completely.

Thumbnails (conceptually) affect the entire desktop, not just the
filer. I would suggest that this page move into a separate configlet,
which would ideally allow the general management of thumbnailers so
they don't have to install and uninstall themselves.

The 'Appearance' section under 'Pinboard' really belongs under
'Backdrop' in the pinboard menu. Infact, why not merge all of it into a
single 'Pinboard options' dialog? These should really all be stored
per-pinboard, in the same way that panel options now are now per-panel.
'Single click to open' should go - does it really need to be separately
configurable from 'Single-click navigation' under 'filer windows'?

Under 'Desktop', the Panel setting is marked as obsolete, and the
tooltip implies that it isn't used (presumably because it now remembers
which you had open last time?) - so why is it still there? The bit
about upgrading from an old version should be doable without the GUI,
no?

Likewise the radio buttons at the top should go, since panels being
remembered, the only question they can answer is 'should a pinboard be
opened' - which can be answered by the presence, or absence, of text
in the 'Pinboard' entry below.
Even better, can the pinboard be remembered from the close of last
session? If the user has a launcher for rox sitting somewhere, it
already lets them turn the pinboard on and off.

Does menus- 'Set keyboard shortcuts' really need to be there? Given
that its only purpose is to tell the user how to do something, doesn't
it really belong in the manual instead of the Options?

Is there any reason why rox maintains it's own config item for the
selected icon theme? Wouldn't it make more sense to use the global
icon theme, just as nautilus, thunar and ROX-Lib do? Is there any use
case for 'I want file icons in my file manger to be different from
everywhere else, including when the file icon is displayed by another
program'? Does there need to be a launcher for MIME Editor here? The
people who would want (and understand) it are no doubt more than
capable of noticing it on the website, and adding a more convenient
launcher than this to their system.

Under 'compatibility', the tooltip for 'blackbox root menus hack'
suggests that the option will become unnecessary in the future. Has the
future arrived yet, and if so, can this option disappear?
How many window managers still require 'override wm control of pinboard
and panels'? 

By the same token, how many apps don't support hostnames in
drag-and-drop, and should this be reported to those projects as bugs?
