I had a similar problem, which turned out to be a problem with udev.

Check that /usr/bin/udevinfo exists on your system, which was removed
in udev-126. The new version of hal, which is going to be released in
the next few days will support newer versions of udev.

If this file does not exist, simply create a symlink to /sbin/udevadm.
