The old 0install version is probably still trying to force itself on you. You need to get the new version to install itself as if there was no previous version. Log out, choose a GNOME session in gdm, for one-time only, and run the new ROX-Session which should prompt you to set it up as the session manager. You'll have to set it up for your own user only; setting it up for the system/all users only works on systems with a root password.
