USB Mass storage

The impression I get is that other filers (such as thunar) directly read
devices such as USB sticks, presumably via udev, whereas ROX doesn't handle
these at al, and we are reliant on unmaintained apps such as DevTray. With it's
dependence on HAL there is no possibility of it working on new and upcoming
distros.

I know ROX itself has been more-or-less left to itself for a long time, but is
there any possibility of it being brought up to date? I don't underestimate
the difficulty of doing this, but it would give me a great deal of peace of
mind (and I'm sure I'm not alone).

P.S.
I can still 'wow' strangers with the speed and flexibility of ROX + Openbox :)
