Use of `g_auto*` macros

Hi, It seems that only two projects use these macros at the moment: libxfce4ui and xfce4-settings. More precisely, they are g_autoptr() and g_autofree. I was wondering to what extent the use of these macros could be extended to other projects, or if it could be a problem, since only GCC and Clang can compile them. Do we have to worry about other compilers? Do you have any other comments on this subject? Thanks!
