And then there are the Wayland compositors, there are quite a few already, mutter/gnome-shell, KDE Plasma Wayland, weston (the reference implementation), sway, and all the wlroots [3] based compositors. For replacing XEMBED, this has been asked and discussed before, you could be running a sub-compositor [4]. So what is it you want to "fix" in Wayland exactly?
