Plugin compilation

Hi all,

I've got a small problem. I'm new to linux, new to C
programming, and now I've decided to write a plugin for
xfce.
When trying to compile the sample plugin I get the
following error:

I use the following command to compile:
gcc -Wall -O2 `pkg-config xfce4-panel-1.0 --libs --cflags`
sample.c -o sample

Can someone please point me in the right direction?
