People should really port their plugins as soon as possible, since we 
are close to a first 4.4 beta release. I made a couple of ports, mostly 
as an example, but I don't have enough time do do this myself.

The idea of the plugins always was that 'third-party developers' (read: 
other people than me) would write, develop and maintain them. However, 
there has not been a lot of discussion on this list I'm afraid, so I can 
only presume that many plugin writers are just as busy as I am :(
