Hello, I was wondering the same thing: could GPU be used efficiently to break RC5? However that may be, I think it is just another mean (in addition to software and fpga). Of course, the advantage is that a lot of people have already a powerful (crypto)graphical card. The current disadvantage is that we will need people to do the job. I'm completely unable to foreseen what could be the performances of such a solution. I'm ready to discuss with people about that, but I'm a newbie in this area and will not have the time to do the job. About GPU: if I understand well, pixel shaders are the area of interest. By the way, a RC4 breaker was already build using GPUs (but using it for RC5 is probably really different). -- Guerric _______________________________________________ Hardware mailing list Hardware-Ra3b/QYEcJ3d140v2zMXi0fjHoOT/h/[email protected] http://lists.distributed.net/mailman/listinfo/hardware
