Re: rc5 stream client under linux

Hey Bartek, thank you for answering. :-) I'd posted the question
about six weeks ago or so. And in the meantime I'd changed email
addy's and never got back to the list.... my bad. I got to thinking
one day that I was using 64 bit linux and the rc5 client was 32 bit,
so that was probably the issue. So I loaded the 32 bit compat libs
in. Still didn't work. So after the reinstall of the drivers, it
worked. So now I have two systems, one using a 4850 and the other with
a 5750 crunching rc5.

I get the same performance out of the 4850 on 64 linux that I do on
32-XP. I noticed in your comment below that on the xp system on a 5870
you are getting 700 MKeys better performance under XP than linux-64.
That is a pretty significant hit under linux. Any idea why? Seems as
if the 64-bit/32-rc5 client runs the same speed on a 4850 it should on
the 5870.... however the 5870 is significantly faster than a 4850.

hi!

two things here that I had problems with:

- the X server must be started for the dnetc client to work (
developers not sure why but the graphics code in the X server does
some needed initialization of the graphics hardware )

- if You have got 64 bit linux system You also need 32 bit
compatibility libraries , the client is 32 bit only ( this also
affects speed I have ati 5870 and under linux 64bit it gives me around
1200 MKeys/s , under windows xp 32 bit around 1900 MKeys/s )

What hardware / software are U using ?
