Dear Mr. Felix von Leither,

I am deeply sorry if I hurt your feelings in any way, but I do believe that
this is no way to speak to someone you do not know. I don't know who you
are, or even if you are important or not, but then again, you don't know who
I am. If you have read the follow-ups, you can understand that yes, I have
read the manuals, yes, I have read some qmail man pages, and yes, I am human
and misunderstood some things which my technical knowledge does not grade
to. Thats the main reason for contacting a user mail list, in order to ask a
question. I have not asked anyone to read the manual.

A software users e-mail list is a place to ask for help. Forgive me if I'm
wrong but if someone on that e-mail list knows how to help, he or she is
free to provide it, and that does not neceserally mean "reading the manual"
to the seeker of help, but spill he or she's knowledge to that person, in
this case, personified by me. What I mean, is that if you feel you are
working as a Technical Consultant on this e-mail list, then you are in the
wrong place. As you said, this is not a "help desk", so you are not obliged
to give me service, or read me manuals, or give me a phone call. And if you
have other things to do, don't be on the list, it's a waste of time writing
insults instead of helping, as well as much easier.

As you can also follow up, my mistake was clearlly spotted out, and I did
feel that virtual whack on the back of my neck which I was honestly entitled
to, for two things, one, mistaking directories and files, and two, carrying
away what was a checkpassword subject off to dot-qmail(5), maildir(5) and
qmail-local(8) subject. So I do apologize for doing this, and I do
understand that in the future I am to use "[email protected]" for these
type of questions.

I do sincerely apologize to the password list for having placed this
message to the list and not directly to the sender. I do understand that
this is a mail sent directly to me, but it was a response to a public e-mail
list. I also hope that this mail will help others realize that at least I,
since I do not speak for the rest, will not tolerate this. Once again, I
sincerely apologize to the list.

Best Regards, Neil

P.S. Respect And Thou Shall Be Respected

Did you ever, at least once, in your whole life consider reading the
fucking manual? Why do you think djb provided one?

This is not a help desk, this is a mailing list of people who have other
things to do than read the manual to you.
