It was checkpassword-0.90 on OpenBSD 6.7 (now 6.9) amd64

This is really embarrassing... As a temporary measure I started using a
different server until I had time to spend on fixing it. Just over a
month ago (July 4th weekend) I finally got it working, and it worked
fine until this morning. When I saw your message I was very tired and my
mind was missing on a few cylinders. So I decided that since the problem
had obviously been fixed I could just go back to the plain checkpassword
and forget about my ugly version. Needless to say, that was a very
stupid mistake. I'm now back to 'aack, child crashed'.

The one advantage to being an old fart is that I have the cutest
great-granddaugher. Forgetting what I did last month is not good, as is
forgetting that I did not set up /altroot on this particular server.

So I'm a bit worse than last year. Tried installing Dr Hoffmann's
s/qmail, but it fails when building qmail-authuser (which was the main
thing I was looking for) with "unable to find library -lcrypt".

At least I know that it can be done, and hope to be able to do it again
one of these days. When I have some time and a good night's sleep.

Will let you know when it's done. BTW, in my original message I thought
it had been a problem with the update from 6.6 to 6.7 but the old server
that I thought was working properly was 6.4 and i386, so it was not at
all a proper comparison.
