A few thoughts and questions regarding this issue of making a sane,
simple operating system:

I've seen DJB's comprehensive list of top-level directories on Unixy
systems; descriptions for /command, /doc, /fs, /package, userdir
(could that just be made into slashusers and make a 'home'
directory/symlink under that?), /public, /service; and
described-but-not-defined /shared, among others.  How about defining the
set of directories living in / and what they all do?  

What are opinions about locating libraries?  A 'slashlib' or
'slashlibrary' like slashcommand, or do they stay under /package?

What about making ports (e.g. Paul's sp-foreign) first-class citizens of
the sp hierarchy?  If not, can /package/ports be allocated to serve as
the sub-hierarchy instead of /package/misc/spf?

What about an extension to the slashpackage format along the lines of
making /package/..../command be a symlink to command-$(syst), allowing
for precompiled tarballs and the ability to serve heterogenous systems
from a single /package tree?
