Isn't /package/editor/ed-spi/cmd-loc/ed not a better place? Furthermore, the symlink uses the name ed in /command. This generates conflicts between different implementations of ed. Or must I register _my_ variant to win the race? Dan does not want/allow this and he is right. A program can group symlinks, e.g. a group `ed' which defines symlinks for ed, ed.man, ed.info. Each group can have several instances, e.g. gnu-ed, sun-ed, etc. This has the advantage that the documentation is consistent with the program. Moreover, different variants of the same classical Un*x command can provide an instance (i.e. a cdb) of its group, which will make administration quite easy and _avoids_ conflicts as far as possible, if ed must be in /command. -- Stefan Karrmann
