I'm not interested in getting it just a little bit closer to the "right way", since it won't ever be completely right as long as I'm doing the slashpackagification instead of the package maintainers. I want to provide a slashpackage installation of, e.g., ed, but I don't care about making it compatible with one provided later by the ed maintainers, if they ever get on board. paul
