New packages: editor/select-ed editor/gnu-ed-sk
New commands of editor/select-ed: select-editor-ed
Private commands of editor/gnu-ed-sk: ed red
The command select-editor-ed updates symlinks such that, e.g.
/package/editor/select-ed/command/ed indirectly points to
an implementation of the editor ed, e.g. editor/gnu-ed-sk's private
commands.
Note, that ed and red a not registerable. Therefore, there
may appear conflicts with the command name ed. I suggest that
alternative implementations of ed use editor/select-ed and provide
a subdirectory cmd-editor_ed.
The package editor/gnu-ed-sk uses GNU ed and builds it in /package style.
The commands ed and red are the ancient (reduced) line-oriented
editors. As these are standard UN*X commands there are conflicting
variants on different versions of UN*X.
Note: Many traditional packages may be registered using the same scheme.
Some of these `select packages' may become obsolete, others will be
needed even if the original authors support /package since different
implementations already exist.
Suggestions of alternative categories are welcomed.
Sincerly,
--
