1. How can you have a symlink with the same name as a directory?
2. The symlink points to a non-existing directory.
3. I think you misread http://www.superscript.com/shttpd/cgiuser-httpd.html:
   cgiuser-http does not replace every '.' with ':', but only '/.' with '/:'.
