Sorry, I knew there were URLs posted earlier but I hadn't followed
them before.

Does MySQL shut down cleanly in response to SIGTERM?  That's why I did
my script the way I did -- I thought mysqladmin was the only way to
shut it down correctly.  If not, it is that simple.
