...the FreeBSD ports install kicks it off from /usr/local/etc/rc.d
and the djb original adds a line to /etc/rc.local when installing
on FreeBSD.

I've gotten comfortable with the linux inittab entry (even though
I have to move it higher up in the file); sure there are other
ways do do it, but ttys seems like the most appropriate place
in BSD land, since svscan shouldn't ever stop, then again, it
shouldn't ever die from rc files; but same goes for services ;)
ttys should be simple and obvious once I get the line for it
worked out.

BTW please use https://ppdts.custhelp.com/ and select "contact
merchant support" to generate a support ticket for the paypal auto
responses to posters on this list. They don't quite understand the
problem but they are trying. I told them what they do is just as
bad replying to forged viruses and spam -- they should reject such
messages in smtp, not respond to the from address in the message.
