Others have asked /whether/ qmail2 would support this -- most people who have
posted think not, for the same reasons you're wondering how it could be done.

Someone (I think it was Russell?) noted that there's nothing in the 1.03
documentation that guarantees the fd supplied to qmail-command programs is
seekable -- in future versions, the fd could be a Unix-domain socket or
similar.
