I'm sorry for the website trouble. It's a known issue with automatic
builds failing due to an error in the development environment, which
I'm going to fix ReallySoonNow.
The toplevel README file (both in a source tree as well as a working
copies from the repository) contains build instructions, so you should
be able to generate tutorial and reference manual locally. (Actually,
source packages should already contain the tutorial.)
All docs are in share/doc/synopsis (both from trunk as well as
branches/Synopsis_0_8), or share/doc/Synopsis in existing releases.
Let me know if I can help further.
