The primary goal is to make the C++ parser fully functional,

Once the parser is functionally complete, the intermediate representations
that are required to make it work should be made public. That requires
cleanup and design refinement.
Note that none of this prevents you (or anybody else) from working on
other stuff. I'd be happy for people to push in different directions.
But so far I haven't seen any substantial suggestion or even patches
to that effect.
