Greetings, I have been lurking and reading the occasional comments here. My take on Java 1.3 is that if you want the project to gain widespread acceptance you should at least support a 1.3 build. It is possible to still take advantage of 1.4 features, but make that an option in the build process. The Jakarta project for Database Connection Pooling (DBCP) has a smart Ant script which causes certain code to be commented out depending on what version of JDBC is selected since the interface added many methods to the interface in JDBC 3.0. The Ant script tasks which make this work are very simple. I suggest the same be done for SwixML and all 1.4 code have a 1.3 equivalent which can be enabled/disabled with a properties setting in the build script. Hopefully the 1.4 dependencies are at a minimum. - Brennan --- [email protected] wrote: > Does anyone really care about making sure that > Swixml runs on both 1.3 and 1.4?
