Yes, I realize the run-time/compile-time choice is ancient, but
it has to be made again for every new technology.  Nor does
"widely understood" translate into an obvious choice.

However, Swixml has chosen its path, and this is the Swixml
mailing list, so perhaps such fundamental discussions are not
appropriate here.
