Hey Mike,

it seems those snapshots at Darren's homepage are really outdated, much has
changed since 30/05/2003. To your problem concerning the autogen.sh:

It seems something went wrong while installing automake & aclocal v1.7.
Although I'm not sure I think the main reason for that huge error output is
here:

Maybe you mixed up the new *.m4 files with the old ones?
