x86 32 bit register write

does 32bit register write clobber the upper half of the 64 bit
register as well in x86. it seems that it does BX_WRITE_32BIT_REGZ
defined as writing 64bits and no BX_WRITE_32BIT_REG is defined.

what about 16 bit write, does it clobber the bits above as well ?
