boot from hard disk

hi:)

  I am got stuck by a strange problem.
  
  I use bochs booting my kernel from hard disk, which is set
  by "ata0-0 type=disk path='xxx/img'....." in bochsrc file.
 
  Kernel file is at first partiton of hd0 ,after loaing kernel from 
  hd,and mounting root filesystem,every device should have a node 
  located at  /dev/  folder.

  It is so strange that ,except hard disk , each device has an node 
  at /dev as expected .

  Is there any one meet this problem?
  What is the reason ?
