Hi Volker, Do you know the answer? My knowledge is very limited here and the only thing I could say is that Bochs BIOS is not fixed binary and could be modified. But might be there are also simpler solutions Thanks, Stanislav From: Garcia Diego Omar [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2013 3:34 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Booting Bochs Hello Stanislav, my name is Diego García. I have written several time ago asking about Bochs. We're working at University with Bochs, and we want to change the way we are booting, that's why I'm writing to you with some doubts: Our goal should boot and run our nano-kernel from bios file (I mean, have the sources of bios and include ours code in the same binary), but I guess the bios is a non-editable binary file. The second option could be to put my code in one of the four optional-rom-images, but I can't find a way to redirect code execution from bios post to this area. Bochsrc file talks about this files could be initalized by bios if they contain a final 0x55AA signature, but I don't realize what you mean with "initialize". Is there any option or idea you could give me to place code in rom memory, avoiding use of virtual magnetic medias (we want to emulate an embedded system) Thanks a lot in advance!
