Hello! I have the most recent numbered release installed into my Slackware Linux 13.37 system. I did need to build a library and install it. (Only mentioned because the Bochs binary mentioned that one was missing.) I then decompressed the DLX example image and set the necessary particulars for the floppy images and perhaps made sure that the keyboard settings were correct for my system, and brought up the simulator. It then booted the image properly. Mounting the image using the instructions indicated in the manual I was able to copy the contents of the image to a prepared compact flash disk. From there I managed to work out the details regarding how the card (or disk) was seen by Bochs, and then booted it. Despite having the disk image set as an active one, it complained that the disk wasn't an active one. I then downloaded the earlier releases of GRUB and selected a disk image. I then stuck the menu file into the disk image. (I used the loopback mount method to do the same for that disk image. I edited it to reflect the presence of the chosen kernel name for DLX and attempted to boot it. Oddly enough GRUB complained that the partition table on the disk image was, ah, flaky. It refused to boot it. Oddly enough and trying this out using a Zip Disk instead of the compact flash card, I did get things to work, but, ah, I'm not sure what I did to get it to boot. ----- Gregg C Levine [email protected] "This signature fought the Time Wars, time and again." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ October Webinars: Code for Performance Free Intel webinars can help you accelerate application performance.
