Payne, Comparing an Amdahl mainframe with a small software-only emulator is like comparing elephants and gerbils. Even were this not so, you completely miss the obvious: just because you, personally, can't understand how something might be done doesn't mean that it cannot be done. Just because you believe that there is no precedent for something like this having been done (and, to the contrary, there is a great deal of precedent in the body of prior, quite successful software-only emulators for other platforms, all written with nothing but public information) does not mean that there is none, in any case. If you had been at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903, would you have been heckling Wilbur and Orville, regaling them with evidence of much precedent involving failed prior heavier-than-air flight attempts and assailing their science? I can almost hear you hollering, "Hey! You chaps over there! What makes you think that two bicycle mechanics can overcome the laws of physics?"
