This is a good summation. It's not as if IBM is ignorant of Hercules, after all, nor of my role in it; my contact details are easily found. (They're on my home page, and kept current there. I believe that personal information is easily enough found on the Internet that attempting to hide it is an exercise in futility.) If IBM is not concerned, then I see no reason why I should be. > I think Jay (or Mr. Boyes) did mention having approached IBM recently on > the matter of licensing software to Hercules. Not specifically about that; more along the lines of having Hercules certified as a PCM. > >Hasn't Intel attempted to prevent these companies from > >implementing the X86 instruction set and failed, or does AMD pay > >royalities to Intel? > I'm not sure, but I would bet that there is substantial cross-licensing > of technology between Intel an AMD. The situation is different, in that AMD and Intel each have technology the other would like to use. Further, both AMD and Intel make money off their product. A closer example would be if Intel and the authors of the Bochs emulator have any sort of licensing going on. ------------------------ Yahoo!
