The Gugenheim Museum in NYC does have a Copyright on the buildings
exterior.  You can take a photo for personal use, but you cannot sell
pictures to make a profit.  Similar with prints of artwork, you can't
sell photo reproductions without an agreement with the copyright
holder.  Theri are fair use clauses for limited personal use.

You also have Trademarks, which covers a name of a company or product.
 IBM (R) and z/OS (R) are register trademarks, etc.  Copyrights cover
poems, books, newspaper articles, movies, songs, sheet music, lyrics,
etc.  Even each email, when it is sent to another computer, gets a
copyright protection, and a fair use clause says others can quote the
email.  It is a violation of copyright law to alter the quoted email
to a significant degree without permission.

Parody is a protect fair use.  Hot Shots was a protect parody of Top
Gun / Rambo, Die Hard was an unauthorized remake of a Canadian film
and they paid a pretty good sum in court.

Yes, you have patents on DNA and chemical drugs developed in the Lab
and cemical drugs found in bacteria, plants, animals, viruses, etc.
When the patents expire then other manufacturers can make generic
versions.  Everybody is getting ready for the expiration of the
Roundup ready crops so they don't haveto buy from Monsanto anymore.

SOFTWARE should be restricted to COPYRIGHT protections and not be
using PATENT protections for simple to moderate ingenuity in using the
hardware instructions supplied by the manufacturer.  Way too many
software patents being issued for easily independent recreated
software.
