An investor who believes or can be persuaded to believe that the commercial
potential of the patent would be significantly in excess of the cost of
obtaining it. You start with an inexpensive pro se provisional patent
application ($125 filing fee for a "small entity") and that gives you a year
to find an investor. Failing that, spend another hundred or so for a
defensive publication of the provisional to at least deter anyone else from
obtaining a patent on it. This is part of what has already been spelled out
and discussed in great detail on this forum as a strategy for dealing with
Hercules' intellectual property challenges. I'm not going to rehash it
again.
