RE: IP connection between host and guest OS

Your problem "probably" is not Hercules, but you didnt' show enough information to tell for sure.
 

 You need to show the hercules config file, and your TCPIP Profile member and your tcpdata member to be sure.
 

 If you can connect to hercules via a 3270 telnet session, then most likely your hercules config and tcpip profile are at least partially correct.  If you can't connect directly to hercules via telnet, and are instead using a local 3270 terminal via VTAM, then there is a difference between the config file and your tcpip profile that is keeping you from doing so.
 

 If your only problem is failing the hometest, then that one is most likely a incompatibility between the TCPIP profile and your TCPIP HOSTS.ADDRINFO, HOSTS.LOCAL and HOSTS.SITEINFO files.  If you didn't set up these three files (they are all done at the same time because you update LOCAL and the other two get created from that). Do you remember if you set that up?  Without it you have no way for your system to resolve who is who and what names go with what IP addresses.  It is also very difficult to get outside of your system (to send email from z/OS for instance) when the hosts files are not correct.
 

 Any way, with more information I can help you, but right now I'm only guessing.
