I like the idea.

But, sadly, I think it would exclude a lot of people.

Being the masochist that I am, I'd be interested in a reincarnation of 
BITNET and PROFS (?).  (I've actually casually looked for the software 
in the past.)

I also have functional (but unused) UUCP now.  ():-)
