RE: 3174 disks

To be usable with Hercules you need a version of the support software that only runs on 2.4 drives….

…. Agency will supply the software but not the disks….

What model 3174? If it's a 51,52 or 53R, it uses 1.2MB floppies like these:

   Has anyone on here successfully read or duplicated a 3174 diskette on a regular computer?  If so, can you tell me what hardware, drive, and software you used?

 

   I'm trying to resurrect my old 3174 and get my 3290 running, and I'm really hoping to know for sure:

 

1.	 What format are the 3174 disks?  I know they're 2.4MB drives, but are the floppies actually 2.4MB?
2.	Will the 3174 read a regular 5.25" floppy?

 

   From a historical perspective, does anyone know anything about the workflow or tools used in how IBM developed the 3174 and it's microcode?
