Guy,
Have you seen the cable in the model 2x? Its one of those mylar things and for some reason it has a 7474 (I think) soldered in and it was a real pain to get the emulator to fit, whereupon the PSU promptly died…

It would have been nice if IBM had actually used ribbon cables rather than just individual wires. It would have been easier to figure out the cabling though I don’t expect the wiring to be all that complicated.

Yes, I have a -6x with an HDD. Actually it’s an emulator. I have 2 different HDDs (that were supposedly working but I could never get it to boot from it after installation. However, with the emulator all is good. ;-)
I’d have to open up my 3174-6x and pull the cables out in order to photograph it…given my current workload, I wouldn’t expect it to be soon. :-(

Does anyone have one of the larger 3174 shelf models, so a 5X or 6X with a with a hard drive? I have two but I am a bit worried about how long my rare 2.4 Mb diskettes will last.
I have a model 2x with a hard drive, but the cables are different and was wondering if any one had photos of cabling for hard drive in a model 5x or 6x…
