For what I understood, Yahoo hercules groups
are still active, but only as mailing lists.

Web access and file area are not accessible
anymore.

For me is not such a big trouble, most of
my time on Yahoo hercules groups had been
spent using email messages, web access was
just a commodity and I've copies of all
messages from the time of my subscription.

At the end public digital forums born as
mailing lists and the web interface has
its drawbacks.

We just met one of them, the provider
can stop them any time with a very short
advice.

Mailing lists are definitely simpler and
rather difficult to kill, if people are
really interested in the topics they discuss.
