I don't know why there is so much confusion. I don't modify z/OS SYS1.MACLIB, I modify the MVS/380 SYS1.MACLIB, to put in instructions like "LG". No modification is required to z/OS, because "LG" is already known to ASMA90. It works fine. And on MVS/380 I even have an alias called ASAM90 that points to IFOX. That works just fine too. No modification to assembly JCL is required. The z/OS assembly JCL works just fine on MVS/380 and vice-versa. BFN. Paul.
