AFAIK, TK3 (and TK4-?) are set up to accumulate the informa= tion into a GDG, so you have some history, see procs DUMPSMF and CLEARSMF).= Jay Moseley details a good way to automate that whole thing, not sure if i= t's the same or different as the TK3 method. The CBT tapes have some prior art for parsing and reporting on the contents= of the SMF datasets, a lot of them seemed to rely on SAS, I've seen one (I= haven't tried it yet) on the SPLA that used FORTRAN. I hadn't noticed Jay's references to specific= programs in the CBT tapes, and will take a look at them tonight. I did a little work on decoding the files in PL/I(F) to generate name=3Dval= ue output that I could run into Splunk.
