I originally wrote my job submission script in Perl, but, a couple of years=
ago, I rewrote it in Python. You point it at a file containing some JCL an=
d it submits it to z/os and then waits around for the sysout which it optio=
nally then displays in an edit session. It has a few other interesting beha=
viors like:
- it picks up the IP address of the z/os system from an environment variabl=
e as well as the userid and password to insert in the job card. These value=
s can also be specified on the command line
- it will optionally insert files into the JCL. This allows you, for exampl=
e, to have a compile deck which then has source code, maintained in your PC=
or other submission environment, inserted at submission time.
There=E2=80=99s other stuff, but it=E2=80=99s been a while and I=E2=80=99ve=
largely forgotten about it.
